Christmas is just around the corner and everyone is busy planning out their Christmas shopping lists. Moms do most of the family gift shopping – gifts for the kids and husband/significant other, but who shops for her? And what about those fun holiday office gift exchanges where a guy draws a female co-workers name and has to get her a gift? Gifts for moms and gifts for female co-workers or friends tend to be last minute, “I’ll just get her this” type gifts or something the kids or husband “thinks” she would like but what mom really wants for Christmas is rarely under the tree!
But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

What Mom Really Wants for Christmas
Don’t get me wrong by thinking I’m ungrateful or unappreciative of the gifts I’ve ever received. I have truly cherished EVERY gift my kids have ever given me. I, like most moms, put a lot of thought and love into picking out the perfect gifts – gifts I know they actually want – for my kids and spouse. Of course, kids don’t put much thought into much of anything, and well, men – need I say more lol! So, I did a survey of hundreds of women and come up with the ultimate list of gifts for women and Moms! These are the things that women listed as something they’d really love to have under the tree or given to them as a gift outside of the home. (Ladies – be sure to PRINT THIS OUT and HANG IT ON THE FRIDGE or in the office break room!)
Gifts for Mom
I know kids love their mom and husbands love their wife but mom’s often get the short end of the stick when it comes to what they get for Christmas. Mom’s are always just so humble and never ask for anything for themselves. We often don’t buy things we want (or even need) because we feel guilty about spending money on ourselves. Since we never mention things we like or want, the kids and hubby don’t really know what to get us! Of course, we absolutely cherish the sweet trinkets the kids give us, but sometimes it would be really nice to be surprised on Christmas morning with some things that we truly WANT for ourselves. So here is the ultimate gift list for mom’s for this holiday season – spoken directly from the mom’s themselves!
Pampering gifts were the #2 most listed gift ideas from my survey! Mom’s work so hard all year long with keeping up the house, kids, job, and everything else and rarely gets a moment to relax.
Gift certificates for things like spa treatments, massages, mani/pedi’s, etc. Groupon always has great ideas and deals on spa services of all types. You could also find out where she likes to get her nails done and get her a gift certificate from there. And, of course, don’t forget to make arrangements for childcare if needed so she CAN go enjoy herself!
Gift Cards to Pamper Herself
This is a new trend that moms (and women everywhere) are loving. There are a variety of subscription boxes to choose from depending on what she likes and she’ll get a treat in the mail every month! Some of my favorites (hint, hint) are:
Birchbox – This is great for Moms who aren’t over the top into makeup. For $10/month, she gets 5 sample size beauty products to try. Then, if she wants to purchase the full size of any item, she’ll earn points towards future purchases.
Fabfitfun – This is a seasonal box, delivered four times per year. Use code FAB10 and get $10 off your Welcome Box!
Cratejoy – You can search here for all sorts of subscriptions from beauty to books and much more.
Give Her a Break!
What mom really wants for Christmas is a break! While she’s out getting pampered, why not surprise her even more by hiring someone to come in a do a deep clean on the house? Every mom I know would just be tickled pink to have someone else clean the house for a change! Not sure where to find a reputable cleaning service? Ask family and friends or check Groupon where you will not only find a great service but at a great price! Lining up a babysitter so Mom can have a girl’s day/night out is also another gift idea that any mother would love! OR – get her car professionally detailed!
Does mom love to read? Get her a tablet and pair it with either an Amazon Prime membership or an Amazon Kindle Unlimited so she can read any book she wants whenever she wants! Need a gift for a female co-worker for your holiday office party? I highly recommend The Fringe Hours by Jessica Turner.
Random but she really wants it!
There are many things moms and other women want but families often shy away from them as gift ideas because they seem impersonal. Here are some top items that women listed from my survey as really wanting as gift ideas:
- If you know mom (or your wife) enjoys a glass of wine to wind down in the evenings, consider getting her a wine fridge or a cute wine rack?
- Does mom really enjoy cooking? I know I would love to get new kitchen stuff for Christmas! The top-mentioned items from Moms are InstaPot, pots and pans, Nutri Ninja Bullet Blender (my son got me the Ninja Bullet last year and I’ve enjoyed smoothies every morning since!)
- Does mom really enjoy taking pics of the family with her camera phone? Why not get her an actual camera so she can really take some great ones?
- Mom’s love purses but prefer to spend their money on the kids instead of herself. Find out what styles she has been eyeing (hint: hack her Pinterest account lol) and get her a new purse or handbag!
- Another great idea is to her a cute Mom shirt!
What Mom Really Wants – #1 Pic
I mentioned gift cards already but, believe it or not, the most requested gift item from the Moms and women I surveyed was GIFT CARDS! When I ask men about this, they often comment that it feels wrong to just give their wives a gift card because it seems so impersonal. A great way to get over this issue is to get gift cards and pair them with any of the items mentioned above! What type of gift cards does Mom want? Some top pics are Starbucks, Bath and Body Works, Amazon, her favorite clothing stores, or jewelry stores. If you know she has a certain hobby, you could get her one related to it such as Hobby Lobby or Joann’s for crafting moms. Either way, gift cards will always go over well with Mom!
