It’s hard to believe this is the end of my first full quarter blogging! I’ve had an amazing first quarter and am just so ecstatic about the progress I’ve made. Although Hurricane Harvey clean-up kept me pretty busy most of the month, I still managed to reach most of my goals AND increase my blog income from my blogs!
But first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you
You will DEFINITELY want to pin this one!

BLOG INCOME REPORT
Well, I am just over-the-top on how well my blogs are doing in their first quarter! I started My Veteran Woman Life at the beginning of July and launched this one – Girl Bosses Rock – in late August. This blog income report will cover the total combined income from both blogs since my affiliate accounts are connected to them both.
Since I launched in late August, I’m really considering September to be my first month for this blog I think I did pretty well with gaining traffic to my site. I managed to get over 1000 page views! You are probably wondering how I managed that!? My other blog is doing amazing so I added a few backlinks on some posts. Some of the content from here is related to the content I published on My Veteran Woman Life, so it was easy to add a link or two in some posts. Now I just need to work on that Bounce Rate!
Top Blog Posts for August
September was a crazy month! We had a huge hurricane (you might have heard of Harvey) that messed up things for a lot of folks on the Texas coast and Florida. Fortunately, bloggers can take their tools with them and work from just about anywhere. On breaks between cleanup efforts, I still managed to publish 6 posts (in addition to the 4 I published on my other blog!). It’s times like this that my ADHD comes in very handy! Hop on over to MY VETERAN WOMAN LIFE and check it out. Here are the top posts for the month:
Girl Boss Journals to Plan Your Girl Boss Empire (311 views)
Girl Boss Finances (151 views)
Girl Boss Inspiration – Tools for Motivation (141 views)
Holiday Gift Ideas for Teen Girls (92 views – written during last week of month)
Promoting my Blog
Again, THANK YOU ADHD!! Promoting a blog is a constant job! I mainly promote both blogs on Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter. I do some promoting on other platforms, but these are three that I spend the most energy on because they are where the bulk of my traffic comes from. I can’t stress enough how imperative Pinterest is for sending traffic to your blog!
As you can imagine, maintaining 2 blogs, 4 Dobies, and all my volunteer activities takes a LOT of my time. How in the heck do I efficiently do it all and still publish quality blog posts that generate traffic and affiliate sales? Coffee…LOTS of coffee 🙂 But more importantly, I use some really awesome and amazing planning and scheduling tools. I couldn’t survive without my planner – and these:
HootSuite is great for scheduling my Twitter and Facebook posts – especially since I have an account for each blog! I love the bulk scheduling tool which allows me to upload multiple posts at once. I normally spend about an hour twice a month scheduling posts two weeks out. I schedule my blog posts to re-post on Twitter several times throughout the month to ensure they are being seen since Twitter is such a quick view platform. In addition to my blog posts, I also schedule inspirational quotes and other content on both platforms. I think it is super important to not just post my own stuff. You MUST interact with and share posts from others to build your audience. At least once a day, I take a break and scroll through my Twitter feed to read and share other people’s tweets.
Now, I told you my number one driver of traffic was Pinterest. But I don’t just make a pin and upload it once. In order to be successful with Pinterest, you MUST be active and pin often. Tailwind has been such a huge time-saving tool for me to accomplish this! I absolutely love Tailwind! I do some manual pinning, but with Tailwind, I can spend about an hour or two each month pinning my content out for the next month. I can also pin other people’s pins as well – and that is also very important because you need to have a variety of different pins on your boards (not just your own). Tailwind also has Tribes, which are like group boards in which other members share your pins to increase their reach. You can join Tailwind for FREE and get a $15 credit to use if you decide to upgrade to a paid plan!
Already using Tailwind and want to join one of my Tribes? Click below to join!
Girl Bosses Rock Beginners (for newbie bloggers to share any niche content)
The Military & Veteran Connection (for sharing of military/veteran related content and content written by military spouses)
I just added Boardbooster to compliment Tailwind for Pinterest scheduling and am super excited with the progress I’m making with it. I added Boardbooster because of the looping feature. This way old content continually gets pinned so new followers can see it and (hopefully) share it. This is great for me since I’m managing pins for 2 different blogs and don’t have the time to go back and reshare content. I highly recommend using Boardbooster – either as your only Pinterest scheduling tool, or to compliment Tailwind if that is what you are using. You can signup now for a free trial!

How to make money with Amazon Affiliates I credit this training for helping me finally earn commission on Amazon!
Pinterest Ninja – This was the first Pinterest training I purchased. Not only did I learn some great tips on creating great pins, I’ve already earned back what I paid through promoting it as an affiliate.
PIN TO PROFITS – I finished this course last week and – MAN! I thought I was doing well with Pinterest. While Pinterest Ninja went into great detail on creating great pins, PIN TO PROFITS goes much deeper into when/where to pin. She also really goes into detail on how to make your affiliate sales through pins and other means. If you are using affiliate programs and hope to generate blog income at all, you NEED to take this training. This training is NOT just about Pinterest!
